DMTRX selects 2009 Player of the Year for $1,000 heads-up match

Las Vegas, Nevada – April 20, 2010 –
The 2009 PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player of the Year is about to prove his worth against one lucky PocketFives.com reader. Chris Moorman of The Brunson 10 will go head-to-head with DMTRX for $1,000. The PocketFives.com reader won a heads-up match through a special promotion after winning Monday’s Beat The Brunson 10 tournament at DoylesRoom.com.

On Monday, April 12, PocketFivers were invited to play for something extra in The Brunson 10 tournament. If a PocketFives.com reader were to take down the tournament, that player would win $1,000 plus a seat in a heads-up match against the Brunson 10 member of their choice.

After finishing first in the tournament and earning an ...

Cuong is King of London GUKPT

March 29, 2010 0 Comments

Cuong Tran from London has won the 3rd leg of the London GUKPT, outlasting a field of 318 players to secure the first prize of £127,800. He defeated Neil ‘Bad Beat’ Channing after a short heads up battle in the £1,500 NL Hold’em tournament at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London. After Channing had eliminated Leon Bui in 3rd place he held a 2-1 chip lead over 30-year-old Tran, but the outcome was decided in the final two hands of the four-day tournament. In the first of these Tran doubled up and took the chip lead when making a straight on a turn that had improved Channing’s pocket eights to trips. On the very next hand Channing had pocket nines and Tran found himself all-in against him holding T-7. It looked like the former Irish Open champion was going to get right back into it, but ...

Blowing Bubbles

Bubbled for a €2000 Team Devilfish package other day which really sucked.

One bubble would be alright but I started the month after bubbling for a $2000 VIP Packge to the Cheltenham Festival and then just missed out on going heads up for a $9500 package to France after losing AA v AJ. I followed that by bubbling for a $1125 British Masters Poker Tour package before fucking up the Devilfish one.

Cake Launches WSOP Satellites‏

Cake Poker's World Series of Poker* "No Strings Attached" Satellites Start March 15th

March 15, 2010 – With the theme “What happens in Vegas – is entirely up to you” Cake Poker is pleased to announce that their no strings attached World Series of Poker* (WSOP*) satellites kick off today.

While many online poker sites require that their WSOP* satellite winners wear logo-covered gear, stay at certain hotels and use their winnings for certain events, Cake Poker’s winners have no strings attached to their WSOP* prize packages.

This year, Cake Poker is offering players the chance to win $2,500 and $12,500 for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. While some sites govern exactly how and when players should spend their WSOP* prize money, Cake’s WSOP* prize packages are flexible. Other sites have a laundry list of terms, conditions, rules, regulations and decrees about how satellite ...

Pressure Bluffs

February 28, 2010 0 Comments

Durrrr's incredible 72o bluff reminded me of a 5 card draw poker scene from an Italian film starring Celentano (the Hero).

The villain opens and the Hero calls and stands pat and then bets out but gets put all-in by the villain. The Hero says, "all my money plus a telephone" and proceeds to call his bank manager to find out what his balance is (the bank manager tells him "Are you crazy? You took out all your money today!"). Hero proceeds to bluff reraise 3 million giving the villain 18 minutes to make a decision. Classic!

Bluffs without table stakes FTW

The punchline is:

Villain: I give you this pot. I folded 4 Queens. What did you have?
Hero: Three 7s
Villain: Are you joking?!
Hero: Yeah, I only had two 7s!
